Rockfish, a strange name, a funny face, and as colorful as a rainbow. He has so many variations and scientific names it is hard be be specific.  But the Alaskan Rockfish is one of the best-kept secrets of the Alaskan fisheries. He is a "by-catch", meaning he is caught while fishing for cod, halibut, and other fish.  It’s flesh is firm, white and meaty, yet oily so it absorbs marinades, wood smoke, and other flavors very well — making the Alaskan Rockfish a unique surprise..
